Bipolar support · Maryland telehealth

# The high, the low, and the life you are building _between._

Considered psychotherapy alongside psychiatric care for adults living with bipolar disorder, for the identity work and steady structure that medication alone does not provide.

Bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition with real biological ballast, and it is genuinely manageable. The right work is a combination: medication managed by a psychiatrist for the mood chemistry, and psychotherapy for everything the condition asks of a person's identity, relationships, and daily structure.

C-G Health provides that therapy piece for adults across Maryland through secure video. The practice does not prescribe medication and does not replace psychiatric care; it complements it.

## What therapy adds to medication

Medication does critical work on mood chemistry, reducing the amplitude of episodes and, for many people, extending the periods of stability between them. What medication does not do is help a person build a life they recognize around the condition, understand their particular early warning signs, or make sense of the identity questions that bipolar raises.

Therapy does that piece. Sessions work with the shape of your particular presentation (bipolar I, bipolar II, the mixed pictures) and with the actual as-lived rhythm of it: sleep, structure, relationships, work, and the very personal signals that mean an episode is beginning to move.

## How the work is structured

The approach draws on cognitive behavioral therapy for the thought patterns that show up in both high and low phases, schema and psychodynamic work for the longer identity questions the condition raises, and structured psychoeducation for the practical skill of tracking your own cycles.

A central piece is building your personal early-warning map. Bipolar episodes almost always announce themselves before they arrive: in sleep, in appetite, in speech pace, in spending, in decision-making. Learning to read those signals reliably, and to act on them early, is one of the single most useful skills the work builds.

Sessions also make space for what the condition asks of the people around you (spouses, family, close friends) and how much or little to share, with whom, and when.

## Coordination with your psychiatrist

For bipolar work, coordination with a prescribing psychiatrist is essential and non-negotiable. C-G Health works alongside your existing psychiatric care and, where useful, communicates with your prescriber with your written consent. If you do not currently have a psychiatrist, sessions help you think through how to find one.

## The longer arc

The most useful therapy for bipolar is usually long-term, held steadily across years, adjusting through episodes and stable stretches alike. The goal is not the elimination of the condition (that is not what it is) but a life that fits around it, and a person who is authoring that life rather than being carried by the cycles.

Is this a fit?

## An honest word about the work.

The work asks for:

- Established psychiatric care, or willingness to establish it
- Weekly or every-other-week attendance across a long arc
- Willingness to track sleep, mood, and other early-warning signals honestly

If you are in a manic, mixed, or depressive episode with risk to yourself or others, please reach the crisis resources page or call 988.
