Separation is usually two processes running at once: a practical one involving housing, money and children, and an internal one involving identity, failure and grief. The practical one is loud, so the internal one gets postponed until it surfaces later.

This work attends to the second, and does it while the first is still going on.

## Deciding, and having decided

Some people come while the decision is still open and need a place to think that is not a friend with an opinion. The aim is clarity about what you actually want, not a push in either direction.

Others come after the decision, when the difficulty is no longer whether but how to get through it while remaining recognizable to yourself.

## The grief nobody schedules

Separation involves a real bereavement that carries no ritual and often little sympathy, particularly if you were the one who ended it. You mourn the relationship, the shared future, and a version of yourself.

## Co-parenting and the long view

Where children are involved, the work covers keeping conflict away from them, holding a workable relationship with someone you are no longer with, and managing the occasions that force you back into the same room.

This is therapeutic support, not legal advice, mediation or any form of custody evaluation. Those are separate professional services and you should retain them separately.

## The practical frame

Individual sessions are $180 for 53 to 60 minutes. Where both partners attend, couples sessions are $280 for 75 minutes.

All sessions are by secure video with you physically in Maryland. Inquiries are answered within 24 to 48 hours, and 988 is available at any hour.
