Telehealth therapy · Maryland statewide

# The whole of Maryland, held in one _room._

How secure video therapy actually works: what a session looks like, what you need, and why the evidence supports telehealth as a genuine equivalent to in-person care.

C-G Health is a telehealth-only practice. Every session is held through secure video, and clients can be located anywhere within Maryland, from Baltimore (https://cghealththerapy.com/therapy-in-baltimore-md) and the DC suburbs (https://cghealththerapy.com/therapy-in-silver-spring-md) to the Eastern Shore, Western Maryland, and everywhere between.

This page describes how the format actually works, what makes a good telehealth session, and what the current clinical evidence says about the modality.

## What a telehealth session actually looks like

A session is fifty-three to sixty minutes for individual work, seventy-five minutes for couples. Before each meeting a secure link arrives by email. At the appointment time you click the link, the video opens in your browser, and the session begins: no software to install, no extra account.

The platform used is HIPAA-appropriate and encrypted end to end. Sessions are not recorded, and no third party has access to what is discussed inside the room.

## What you need on your end

A private, uninterrupted space for the length of the session. Headphones or earbuds: this matters more than people expect, both for sound quality and for the sense of privacy. A laptop, tablet, or phone with a working camera and microphone. A reasonably stable internet connection.

For couples or family sessions, everyone in the meeting is in the same physical room, ideally sitting side by side rather than in separate rooms on separate devices. The shared presence carries important information that separate feeds obscure.

## Why telehealth works statewide

Maryland is a geographically compact state that spans very different lives: urban corridors, rural counties, mountain and coastal communities. Telehealth removes the commute, the parking, the childcare puzzle, and the geographic barrier that has historically kept a lot of people out of psychotherapy. That accessibility is not a compromise. For many people it is what makes consistent care possible in the first place.

The current evidence base for telehealth psychotherapy is strong. Outcomes for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and couples work are comparable to in-person care across a wide range of studies. What matters for outcomes is the therapist, the fit, and the consistency of the work, not the delivery format.

## Where telehealth is a good fit

Most adult presentations work well in a telehealth frame, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, grief, burnout, OCD, and substance use counseling. Couples and adult family systems also work well, provided the group is together in one room.

Some situations are better served by in-person care: acute suicidality that requires higher-level support, active psychosis, or clinical needs that are outside the scope of a solo telehealth practice. In those cases the initial consultation will say so honestly and support you toward the right resource.

## Maryland residency, and only Maryland

State licensure regulations mean that sessions can be held only with clients who are physically located in Maryland at the time of the session. Travel outside the state means sessions pause for that time. This is a legal requirement of clinical licensure, not a preference.

Is this a fit?

## An honest word about the work.

You'll likely get the most from this work if you are:

- Adults located in Maryland who prefer or need remote care
- Professionals, parents, and caregivers for whom commuting to an office is not workable
- Adults in parts of Maryland where local specialist care is limited

The work asks for:

- A private, quiet space for the session
- A device with camera, microphone, and stable internet
- Willingness to keep sessions inside Maryland state lines
