Culturally responsive · Maryland
Therapy that does not need culture translated first.
Culturally responsive online therapy for adults and couples across Maryland, in English or French.
A recurring complaint about therapy is the amount of unpaid work it takes to get started: explaining a family structure, a faith practice, an obligation that is not optional, or why a particular subject is not discussed outside the household.
Seventeen years of practice across three continents, and a bilingual clinical setting, shorten that considerably.
Culture as clinical material
Family obligation, religious practice, community standing and inherited expectation are not background colour. They frequently are the presenting problem, or the reason a straightforward solution is not available.
The work does not begin by asking you to set them aside as irrational. It begins by taking them seriously enough to see what they are actually costing.

What that changes in the room
You will not be asked to justify why leaving a marriage, changing career, or declining to support a relative is complicated. The complication is treated as real.
Equally, culture is not used as a ceiling. Understanding why a pattern exists is not the same as accepting that it cannot change, and the work moves toward what you decide to do about it.

Language
Sessions are available fully in French, fully in English, or moving between the two. For many bilingual people, analysis happens in one language and feeling in the other.
This matters most for early memory, which is frequently encoded in the first language and reached only awkwardly through a second.
The practical frame
Individual sessions are $180 for 53 to 60 minutes; couples sessions are $280 for 75 minutes. Cancelling inside 24 hours is billed at $130.
All sessions are by secure video and you must be in Maryland at the time. Enquiries are answered within 24 to 48 hours, and 988 is available at any hour.
