How therapy with me works
Understanding first. Then decisions.
A deliberate arc: patterns before choices, self-knowledge before change. Here is how a course of therapy at C-G Health actually unfolds.
How therapy with me works
Understanding first. Then decisions.
I don't start by telling you what to change. We start by understanding how you got here, and only then do we decide, together, what comes next.
-
1
Look at the patterns
We look honestly at how you've been functioning over the past years: the patterns that keep repeating, and where they came from.
-
2
Build the understanding
Together we map your behaviors, your emotional world, and the ways you think. This self-reading is the real work, and it's what makes lasting change possible.
-
3
Decide, collaboratively
Once you understand the patterns, you decide how you want to move forward. I bring the clinical guidance; you stay the author of the decision.
-
4
Build new patterns
We put the new ways of functioning into practice, building efficacy, hope, and a steadier sense of yourself along the way.
You are the author. My job is to help you read the page clearly before you write the next one.
The approaches I draw from
Trained in several methods. Chosen to fit you.
No one modality fits every person or every phase of the work. Here are the frameworks I lean on, and when I use each.
-
Life traps
Schema Therapy
Working with the deep, early patterns ('life traps') that shape how you feel, connect, and choose as an adult.
-
CBT
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Practical work on the thoughts and behaviors that keep anxiety, low mood, or unhelpful cycles in place.
-
Couples
Gottman Method
Research-based couples work: communication, trust, conflict repair, and building a shared sense of us.
-
Insight
Psychodynamic
Understanding how earlier experience and relationships still show up in your current life, and what that opens.
-
Regulation
Mindfulness-based
Steadier attention to what's happening in your body and mind, so you can respond instead of react.
